Colin Firth, who just won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for his award winning film, The King's Speech this past Sunday (January 16th) gets another nomination for Leading Actor (which he won last year for A Single Man) and a total of 14 nominations for TKS (including Best Film, Director, and Actor) at the 2011 BAFTA, which was announced by P&P's Talulah Riley and Dominic Cooper this morning.
While Rosamund Pike and Carey Mulligan made the BAFTA Longlist, neither one made it to the shortlist of the final BAFTA nominations (and it seems Miss Pike Disappointed By Bafta Choices). RosamundPike's Made In Dagenham co-star Miranda Richardson and the film scored 4 nominations though. Talulah Riley's Inception film garnered 9 nominations. Meanwhile Lost In Austen's Gemma Arterton is nominated for Orange Wednesdays Rising Award. Read this article from BBC News aboutBaftas 2011: surprises and sure things, it mentioned Carey Mulligan's exclusion in the nomination as well as Sally Hawkins. Interesting no mention of RP, Paul Giamatti (who just won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical this past Sunday), and Barney's Version's snubbed after lots of mentions in the longlist...
The nominations announcement was held at BAFTA's headquarters in Piccadilly. The introduction was made by Academy Chairman Tim Corrie and the nominees were announced by actor Dominic Cooper and actress Talulah Riley.
The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) just announced their LONGLIST of possible nominees for the 2011 BAFTA and the shortlist and final nominations will be announced on January 18th.
BAFTA will take place on Sunday 13 February 2011.
Our P&P actors: Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan, and Colin Firth made the BAFTA Longlist along with their films such as RP's Barney's Version and Made In Dagenham, CM's Never Let Me Go, and CF's The King's Speech. As usual, BAFTA snubbed Keira Knightley once again for her wonderful role in Never Let Me Go, like they snubbed her previously in Pirates/P&P/The Duchess films...and yet Gemma Arterton (no pun intended) made the BAFTA longlist for her two films less popular or well-known than her Prince of Persia (which I loved and enjoyed) and Keira's NLMG films combine. Not too mention, her NLMG co-stars Carey and AndrewGarfield made the longlist each, but no Keira (not even in her best Oscar/Golden Globe nominated role in P&P gets her any nomination or recognition in her own country's big award show)...Interesting BAFTA! What's up with the frequent snub on KK? They must not like her...but even in her best performances (Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice and Georgiana in The Duchess) she still get snubbed...how odd! Her acting has been solid and great since P&P movie...

“Wright caused a stir last year by berating Bafta’s British voters, who denied Knightley a best-actress nomination for playing Elizabeth Bennet. As voters for the Oscars and Golden Globes saw fit to nominate her, the snub seemed doubly harsh, and may have owed something to her celebrity and prominence in gossip magazines. But, after Atonement, it’s unlikely she will need Wright to spring to her defence again.
“It isn’t her fault,” Wright protests. “I know some actors court the media, and Keira doesn’t. She’s incredibly beautiful, so she gets to be the face of Chanel, and that’s great for a few bob, so good luck to her. But when she’s making a film, that’s all she cares about.”

P&P/Jane Austen actors and their films lead BIFA nominations!
The nominations and jury members for the thirteenth annual Moët British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) were announced Monday (November 1st). Keira Knightley (Lizzie), Rosamund Pike (Jane), and Carey Mulligan (Kitty), three of the five Bennet girls from the 2005Pride & Prejudice film are all nominated in the Best Supporting Actresses (Knightley for Never Let Me Go and Pike for Made In Dagenham) and Best Actress (Mulligan forNever Let Me Go) categories and their new films (Never Let Me Go with 6 and Made In Dagenham with 4 nods) as well as Carey/Keira's NLMG and Rosamund'sMID co-star Persuasion 07's Sally Hawkins (Anne Elliot, who also previously co-starred with Carey and Rosamund in the Oscar nominated film, An Education) for Best Actress (Made In Dagenham) and P&P '95's Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy) for Best Actor (The King's Speech).

The UK's Daily Mail has a new (and very interesting read) Rosamund Pike(photo byCarlos Alvarez/Getty Images Europe) Interview as she promotes her new films Made In Dagenham (in theaters October 1st in the UK and November 19th in the US) and Barney's Version.
Rosamund Pike and I are meeting for lunch in a pub near London’s Old Vic theatre. Not because she’s appearing in a show there, but because the kitchen serves the likes of deep-fried pig’s head, cold roast beef on dripping toast and lamb sweetbreads. Just scanning the menu makes me blanch, but the 31-year-old former Bond girl – Keira Knightley’s sister in Pride and Prejudice and Carey Mulligan’s friend in An Education – hasn’t tried offal before, and what is the point of life if not the giddy accumulation of lovely, new experiences?
Rosamund Pike was born in London. Her parents Julian and Caroline were opera singers – he is now a professor at the Birmingham Conservatoire – which made for a peripatetic childhood in Europe, where she mastered both French and German and learned piano and cello. When the family returned to Britain when she was seven, she went on to win a scholarship to fee-paying Badminton School in Bristol, alma mater of Iris Murdoch, after sitting an entrance exam for which she was completely untutored.
‘I had never sat any sort of test before. It didn’t bode well when we arrived at this incredibly grand school, where the other parents were emerging from BMWs, and the exhaust pipe of our ancient Volvo estate fell off at the top of the drive so that we had to freewheel down it. As I sat in the examination room, I could see people setting out elaborate picnics while my mother chatted to the RAC man. Because it was my first ever exam, I had no idea you weren’t allowed to talk, and I got a terrible telling off because the girl next to me was upset and I asked her if she needed any help.’
She was reportedly mortified by this end to their three-year relationship, but won’t discuss it, although it would possibly qualify as one of those scrapes she gets into. That was in 2008; these days she says that she’s ‘as single as I want to be and as together as I want to be’, with someone she mysteriously alludes to as a ‘fellow adventurer’.
‘Being single has propelled me into some amazing adventures,’ she muses. ‘After what happened, I have nothing to lose any more; I’m not scared of being heartbroken, because love is always going to take you somewhere new and frightening and wonderful. When you spend time in a couple, that starts to define you and, while it was fun, I’ve discovered that it’s also fun being me. I might meet someone tomorrow or in two years and that’s fine. Meanwhile, I get to live out the most glorious love affairs on screen. How fabulous is that?’

Interesting fact Pike writes, mainly travel articles for the broadsheets, is currently working on a screenplay and has been approached with a book deal, of which she says: ‘I think they want anecdotes, memoirs of the film industry, that sort of thing, but I am not really ready to do that yet.’
Rosamund revealed: "Although it's Bond spoof, it's nothing like being a Bond girl, because I've got a very interesting role to play actually. Not that the character in the Bond film wasn't interesting but, I don't get to play with guns of fight. There is a scene in a car, so there is an element of Bond about it. But she's quite a funny character."
The Made In Dagenham star revealed Rowan personally requested her to star in the sequel to his James Bond spoof.
She said: "Rowan Atkinson came after he saw An Education and wanted me to do this part in the Johnny English film for him. It's a very, very funny script."

Speaking of Carey and Keira in Never Let Me Go... Some info are out now of screening times and dates at Toronto Film Festival for Carey and Keira's new film, Never Let Me Go (September 11th, 13th, 18th) and Keira's Last Night (September 18th). Keira is not on the expectedattendees list (but co-star Carey is as well as their former P&P co-star Rosamund Pike for her own films Varney's Version [screening on Sept 12, 14, and 19] and Made in Dagenham[Sept. 11 and 12]), although KK is expected for the London premiere in October.
