On TV Tonight: Watch the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards

While UK Fans are lucky to be seeing the Season 2 premiere of Downton Abbey tonight on ITV as well as its competition Spooks (aka MI-5 in the U.S., which our Matthew Macfadyen was an original cast member along with his real-life wife, actress Keeley Hawes at the first few seasons of the long-running British spy drama series before he was cast in Pride & Prejudice) with the premiere of the first episode (of six) of its 10th and final season on BBC. Well, here in the U.S., The 63rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards is on tonight starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Fox with host Jane Lynch aka Glee's (Sue Sylvester). The following period dramas/miniseries (starring a few of our favorite P&P actors) are nominated for an Emmy Award such as (Penelope Wilton) with 11 nominations, The Pillars of the Earth (Matthew Macfadyen and Donald Sutherland) with 7, and Any Human Heart (Matthew Macfadyen and Tom Hollander) with 4 nominations.  See all the categories they are nominated here: Downton Abbey, The Pillars of the Earth, and Any Human Heart nominated for 2011's Primetime Emmy Awards

(and a total of 6 Primetime Emmy Awards including 2 wins at last week's Creative Arts Emmy 2011) for Downton Abbey tonight including Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Maggie Smith and the big prize: Outstanding Miniseries or Made for Television Movie! Congrats to Downton Abbey's cast and crew and PBS Masterpiece Classic!!!!!!
 


Note: Downton Abbey already won 2 Creative Arts Emmy 2011, (which was already handed out a week ago prior to the Emmys) for Costumes and Cinematography For A Miniseries Or TV Movie.

won Sound Editing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special.

Keira Keira Knightley To Promote “A Dangerous Method” at TIFF 2011
Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen have been confirmed to attend the 36th Toronto International Film Festial (TIFF) which runs through September 8th – 18th. They will both be promoting “A Dangerous Method”. [via Hollywood Reporter]

Syfy Announces “Neverland” Premiere Date
The four-hour movie Neverland, starring Keira Knightley as the voice of Tinker Bell, will premiere on Sunday and Monday, Dec. 4 and 5 at 9/8c each night. [via TV Guide]


Keira Lends Support to Truth Aid at The Box
Keira Knightley and Coldplay’s Guy Berryman will host a glittering star-studded dinner at The Box London in aid of human-rights charity Truth Aid – a worthy cause that creates awareness on gender-based violence in Ethiopia. [source: Harper's Bazaar]

Olivia Williams: Keira will be a great Anna
Olivia Williams has described her Anna Karenina co-star Keira Knightley as a "phenomenal actress". The pair will appear together in the upcoming adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel which is directed by British filmmaker Joe Wright and which will star Aaron Johnson and Jude Law. Olivia said Keira would have no problem taking on the challenging title role.

She added: "In some films you're on your own but in a Joe Wright film you're not on your own, it's a genuinely collaborative event and I think that she's a phenomenal actress with or without this incredible ensemble behind her." [via The Press Association]


The Pillars of the Earth Miniseries Coming to ReelzChannel
The Emmy-nominated The Pillars of the Earth will air on ReelzChannel starting Sunday, December 4. Based on Ken Follet's best selling novel, the nine-part miniseries is a sweeping epic set in 12th-century England that features stellar performances from Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, and Donald Sutherland.
Follet's sensuous story — set against a backdrop of war, religious strife, and power struggles — was an Oprah Book Club selection and has sold nearly 19 million copies worldwide. Three-time DGA award-winner Sergio Mimica-Gezzan directed the miniseries. Matthew Macfadyen, Hayley Atwell, Sam Clafin, and Eddie Redmayne also star.

Pillars is getting the old-school miniseries treatment, with episodes airing on consecutive days. ReelzChannel is Dish 299, DirecTV 238, and available on your cable system.

    TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY Kicked Back to December 9th
    Over the weekend, Deadline‘s Pete Hammond reported that Focus Features wants to give Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy a serious awards season push.  That’s not the tragic part.  The tragic part is that they’re moving the film back from November 18th to December 9th in order to do so.  [via Collider]

    'Bridget Jones's Diary' Will Have Third Chapter
    Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that the long-gestating third "Bridget Jones's Diary" movie is finally a go.     Saturn Award Nominations include Inception, Never Let Me Go, and Robin Hood

    The Academy of Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Films have announced the nominations for the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, which honor excellence in all things gruesome, awesome and everything in between for both movies and television.

    Inception leads the Saturn nominations with 9, Never Let Me Go with 5 including in the acting categories for our P&P/Bennet girls Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan, and Matthew Macfadyen's Robin Hood film with 2. The 37th Annual Saturn Awards will take place in Burbank, CA in June.

    The 2011 Golden Globe Awards Nominations were announced LIVE earlier this morning at The Beverly Hilton. The King's Speech (including a nomination for Colin Firth in the Best Actor category) lead with 7 nominations and Inception got 4 nods! Unfortunately, none of our P&P '05 actors in their latest films were nominated for a Golden Globe Awards this year. Only a few of their co-stars did. However, did get nominated for her role in Return to Cranford miniseries, Romola Garai for Emma, and The Pillars of the Earth scored three nominations including for Hayley Atwell and Ian Mcshane.

    As previously posted here, Starz is set to premiere the eight-hour “event series” based on the Ken Follett bestselling novel “The Pillars of the Earth.”

    The epic miniseries will start off with a two-hour premiere on Friday, July 23rd at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Former P&P co-stars Matthew Macfadyen (Mr. Darcy) and Donald Sutherland (Mr. Bennet) are amongst the big cast that will be bringing Follett's characters to life when this miniseries premieres late in July!
